First Annual Friends to Freedom Trail—A NC Heritage Based Wagon Train/trail ride recounting the early American Quaker exodus from Perquimans County, NC which began around 1812. Two days of riding: 12 miles first day & 17 miles second day includes parade through Historic downtown Hertford. MOST OF THIS IS ROAD RIDING on very low traffic rural roads. A few miles of dirt paths on the second day. Inc: Primitive camping, two meals, nightly entertainment, historical reenactors, games & shuttle service to bring support vehicles to next campsite. Wagon route departs Fri. morning from historic Newbold-White house in Hertford via Beech Springs to Belvidere campsite; then departs Belvidere Sat. morning for Winfall where there will be a parade across the "s" bridge through downtown Hertford & then back to historic Newbold-White house.
