Letter from the President

Hey Everyone,

Just a note to inform all of you of different events coming up and to thank all those who have helped with the club’s activities this year.

Our trail rides and family picnic were great and the fun shows continue to be a great place for riders of all levels to get in the ring.  We were also able to make The Tarheel Classic happen in spite of an economy that is forcing many exhibitors to stay home. The rest of the year promises to be full of fun, horses and fellowship.
Coming Up:

Fun Show-October 30th at Bayfield Farm, Oxford

PPWHANC Volunteer Appreciation Weekend at Gary and Julie Holmes’ Shangri-La Retreat- November 2010 (Date TBA)   MEMBERS ONLY

The Annual Meeting and Christmas Party-December 4th, Oxford Shiner's Club

Boards Elections-There are four (4) openings coming up at the end of the year.  The Board is seeking candidates now!  If you are interested, please let any Board member know. Those Board members coming off this year are: Dot Black, Cynthia Bobbitt, Barb Curtis and Kevin Gilliam.

Tarheel Classic –It’s already time to work on our show. The show committee wants feedback to see what changes to the class sheet will best fit the desires of the membership. This show has become one of the biggest flat shod shows on the East coast.  It will not be successful in 2011 without ALL our members contributing in some way.  We made money last year only because we shared the facility with another show and found sponsors.  Please volunteer to man a gate, work in the show office or sponsor ribbons for a class. Help make phone calls . . . anything, being an exhibitor is just not enough. Together we can maintain the Tarheel Classic’s reputation for a top-notch show for flat-shod horses.
In closing, I know we all joined PPWHANC for the simple reason to promote the flat-shod horse.  Promotion has many meanings and as a club we try to handle them all.  Trail riders, kids and horse show exhibitors are all a part of PPWHANC. I would like to suggest that no matter how you are into horses -- volunteering also helps promote our breed in a most positive way.
